Complete Maple T.A. 3.01 Upgrade Instructions

Once you have downloaded the compressed file, extract it to a temporary directory on the machine on which Maple T.A. 3.0 is installed. The directory will contain installation instructions, the installer file, as well as an updated c3p0 jar file.
To install this update, you will need to undeploy Maple T.A. using the Tomcat Manager, run the installer, and then copy a new c3p0 jar file into your Tomcat folder.

Undeploy Maple T.A. 3.0

  1. Ensure Tomcat is running.
  2. Open your browser and go to the Tomcat Web Application Manager http://localhost:8080/manager/html/.  You will be prompted for the Tomcat admin username and password that you entered when installing Tomcat.
  3. In the Tomcat Web Application Manager, scroll to the mapleta application and click Stop in the Commands column for this application.  A message will display at the top of the page when this process has completed.
  4. Click Undeploy for the mapleta application which is located in the same table cell as Stop in the previous step. You will need to wait a few minutes after clicking Undeploy to give the process a chance to complete.  A message will display at the top of the page when this process has completed.
  5. Stop Tomcat. Verify that the folder <Tomcat>/webapps no longer contains a mapleta folder.  If the folder still exists, delete it.

Replace the c3p0 jar file

The final step that is required is to replace the c3p0.jar file with an updated version.

The Maple T.A. 3.0 installer placed a file called c3p0-0.9.0.jar into <Tomcat>/server/lib.  This file should be removed.  You will replace it with a newer version in a different location.

You should find a file in this archive called c3p0-0.9.1.2.jar.  This file should be placed in the following location:

Tomcat 5.x: <Tomcat>/common/lib
Tomcat 6.x: <Tomcat>/lib

Move the file postgresql-8.0-3.11.jdbc3.jar from <Tomcat>/server/lib into the location that you placed the c3p0 jar file.

Once these steps are complete, start Tomcat.

You can now use Maple T.A. 3.01.
