Set or remove the default system of units for a worksheet
•
Set a default system of units to automatically convert the outputs of new execution groups to your preferred system of units, regardless of the input units.
•
For example, if you set your default system of units to IPS, lengths will be converted to inches, masses will be converted to pounds, and time will be converted to seconds (regardless of the input units).
•
Remove a default system of units if you want Maple to decide what the appropriate output unit should be based on the input units. For example, if you enter as the input units, Maple will express the output in (Newtons).
•
Changing the default system of units only affects new execution groups. Existing execution groups keep the units they had when they were created.
To set or remove the default system of units for a worksheet:
1.
Select Format > Convert Output Units... to open the Convert Output Units dialog.
2.
Do one of the following:
•
To set a default system of units, select Choose System, and then select a system of units from the corresponding list.
•
To remove the default system of units, select No Conversion.
3.
Click Apply And Set As Default.
Note: You can also set the units format by creating a User Profile and applying it to a worksheet. For details, see User Profile and Create a User Profile.

To set or remove the default system of units for an execution group:
1.
Select output for the execution group you want to format.
2.
Select Format > Convert Output Units... to open the Convert Output Units dialog. Alternatively, from the context panel select the Units menu.
3.

Set a unit or custom unit for an execution group
•
When you set a unit or custom unit for an execution group, the output is converted to that unit whenever the input has a unit of the same type.
•
For example, if you set feet as the unit for an execution group, the output is converted to feet whenever the input has units of length. If you set dyne as the unit, then the output is converted to dyne whenever the input has units of force.
•
A custom unit can be one of the following:
–
A nonstandard unit of measure that is recognized by Maple (for example, a fathom or a teaspoon).
–
A unit derived from other units (for example, Ampere-second).
•
The execution group must already have a unit associated with it before you can perform this procedure.
•
The unit you set must have the same dimensions as the unit that is associated with the execution group.
To set a unit or custom unit for an execution group:
1.
Select output for the execution group.
2.
Select Format > Convert Output Units... to open the Convert Output Units dialog. Alternatively, from the context panel select the Units menu.
3.
Do one of the following:
•
To set a standard unit, select a unit from the Choose Unit list.
•
To set a custom unit, select Enter Unit, and then enter the unit in the text box.
4.
If you are in the Convert Output Units dialog Click OK. If you are working in the context panel, click anywhere in the worksheet.
