Configuring Your Environment to Draw 3-D Plots in Maple
Displaying 3-D Plots in Linux
Displaying 3-D Plots in Windows
Getting Help
Maple needs access to a 3-D graphics library called OpenGL to draw 3-D plots. On most operating systems, this library is installed in a standard way. However, on Linux operating systems, certain OpenGL installations may cause issues with 3-D plotting in Maple.
If Maple detects a configuration that it cannot use while trying to draw a 3-D plot, the following error message is displayed in the worksheet:
Your operating system, graphics, or video driver may require updating.
This issue has been known to occur with AMD or ATI graphics cards. If you see this error message, the problem may be resolved by upgrading your video card driver to the most current version available.
Note: Although most Linux installations have built-in facilities for upgrading video drivers, they may not detect the most recent video drivers and the drivers supplied may not support your operating system version.
It is strongly recommended that you use the latest AMD Catalyst driver. Visit http://support.amd.com/en-us/download to download the driver and installation instructions. If you cannot find the driver right away, search for AMD Catalyst using their internal search tool.
glXQueryVersion Failed
If you are running Maple on a remote computer and your output includes the message glXQueryVersion failed, that computer or the computer displaying Maple does not have the software required to display Maple 3-D plots remotely. Specifically, both computers must have a GLX extension to the X Window System to access the OpenGL library.
This issue may be resolved by upgrading one or both computers.
On some computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems and using AMD or ATI graphics cards, 3-D plots may not be rendered clearly. For example, tickmark labels may not be displayed. This issue may be resolved by upgrading your graphics device driver.
