What's New in MapleSim 5: Component Library

The MapleSim Component Library contains over 150 new components that you can view and use in your simulations.  These components and the operation of each component is described in separate help pages with the appropriate tables and a brief description of the operation.

In addition MapleSim contains new Magnetics examples for you to view and use in your simulations.

New MapleSim 5 Library Components

The following descriptions pertain to the new components found in the MapleSim Library palette and MapleSim Help.

1-D Mechanical Translational

This library contains new components to model one-dimensional translational mechanical systems for motion/force drivers, sensors, and so forth.   This includes Common Brake, Constant Force Motion Drivers, Force Step, Linear Speed Dependent Force, and Quadratic Speed Dependent Force and Translational Power Sensors.

For more information, see 1-D Mechanical Library Overview.

1-D Mechanical Rotational

This library contains new components to model one-dimensional rotational mechanical systems, such as Common Disc, Ideal Rolling Wheel and Rotational Accelerate Motion Drivers    .

For more information, see 1-D Mechanical Library Overview.

Digital Sources

There are two new digital source components to model time-dependent digital signal sources, such as Digital Pulse Source and Digital Tabular Source.

For more information, see Digital Sources.

Electrical Analog

The Electrical Analog library contains new zener diode and thyristor semiconductor components, operational amplifiers, analog and digital multiphase switch components to model simple opening arc conditions, passive translational EMF, passive saturating inductors and analog multi-transformers.

For more information, see Electrical Analog Components Overview.

Electrical Digital

The Electrical Digital library contains new digital domain logic converters and digital pulse sources, such as Digital Table, Digital Clock and Digital Step.

For more information, see Electrical Digital Components Overview.

Electrical Machines Transformers

The Electrical Machines Transformers library contains models of three-phase electrical transformers with various winding configurations (delta, wye, zigzag).

For more information, see Machines Transformers.

Hydraulic Library

This library contains components to model hydraulic systems, such as Compliant Cylinder, Pipes and Check Valves, Circular and Non-Circular Pipes, Orifice and Spool Valves.

For more information, see Hydraulic Library Overview.

Magnetic Library

The new Magnetic Library contains information and components you can use to model various magnetic circuits.  This library consists of basic magnetic components; data for hard and soft magnetic material; sensor information for measuring magnetic flux and potential; magnetic field shapes for representing characteristics of electromagnetic fields and permanent magnets; magnetic flux leakage and sources, and magnetic potential leakage and sources.

For more information, see Magnetic Library Overview.

Signal Blocks

The Signal Blocks library contains new components to manipulate or generate input and output signals and consists of polar-to-rectangular and rectangular-to-polar functions, discrete state-space components, 1-D lookup tables, time lookup tables, and signal extractors.

For more information, see Signal Blocks Library Overview.

Thermal Fluids

The Thermal and Thermal Fluids library contains new components to model thermal system boundary conditions, constraints, heat flow, heat transfer, thermal-fluids, and thermal sensors.

For more information, see Thermal and Thermal Fluids Library Overview.

New MapleSim 5 Examples

The following new examples are found in the MapleSim Library Examples palette.

Magnetics

Moving Coil Actuator

The Moving Coil Actuator model demonstrates the effects of  the magnetic force components of a moving axis-symmetric coil actuator on a flange.

Saturated Inductor

The Saturated Inductor model demonstrates the effects of the non-linear magnetization characteristics of soft magnetic material in an inductor.

Thermal

Cooling with Pump and Valve

The Pump and Valve Cooling model demonstrates the effects of a heated thermal mass cooled by a liquid-cooled heatsink.

Indirect Cooling

The Indirect Cooling model demonstrates the effects of  recirculating coolant transfering heat to a radiator.
