Maplesoft recently announced a major new release of its flagship product, Maple. With Maple 16, Maplesoft introduces new tools and techniques in its Clickable Math™ collection, setting new standards for ease of use in mathematical software and providing new, innovative ways to explore mathematics. In Maple 16, Drag-to-Solve™ and Smart Popups join palettes, interactive assistants, context-sensitive menus, tutors, and other Clickable Math tools that provide a point-and-click interface for solving, visualizing, and exploring mathematical problems. With Drag-to-Solve, users can solve equations step-by-step, simply by dragging individual terms. They can also explore expressions to deepen their understanding of the problem and determine the next steps in the solution. Smart Popups instantly show mathematical identities, plots, factorizations, and more for the highlighted expression, helping the user choose the next operation to perform. The interface is only one of the many areas of Maple that were enhanced in Maple 16. Substantial improvements were made across the entire product in mathematical algorithms, visualization, programming language, engineering tools, documentation, education features, authoring tools, and more. Highlights include:
Important enhancements to visualization, including a smart plot view that automatically focuses on points of interest. Significantly faster performance on both core Maple operations and calculations using multiple cores and multi-threading. World-leading algorithms in differential equations and computational physics that are beyond the reach of any other software system. Over 100 new Math Apps to provide insight into concepts from math, statistics, physics, and finance. New statistical algorithms and visualizations. New functionality to support programming and application development. Check out the blog post written by Dr. Laurent Bernardin, Maplesoft's Executive Vice-President & Chief Scientist. To learn more about all the new features in Maple 16, click here. | Featured Live Webinar: Introduction to Maple 16: See What's New!Tuesday, April 24th at 10:00am ET

Maple 16 is a major new release of Maple, the technical computing software for mathematicians, engineers, and scientists. With Maple 16, Maplesoft introduces new tools and techniques in its Clickable Math collection, setting new standards for ease of use in mathematical software and providing new, innovative ways to explore mathematics. Of course, the interface is only one of the many areas of Maple that was enhanced in Maple 16. Substantial improvements were made across the entire product, in mathematical algorithms, visualization, programming language, engineering tools, documentation, education features, authoring tools, and more. In this webinar, we’ll explore many of the new features of Maple 16.

Typically, design engineers resort to making various model simplifications or compromises for the model; ultimately, this reduces the accuracy and effectiveness of the simulation process. Since MapleSim automatically derives the system equations directly from the model diagram, the Quanser engineers developed a very high fidelity model with gyroscopic effects in very little time and with little effort.
